To put it nicely, Henry didn't really care for his first go around with peas yesterday. I couldn't stop giggling and he was looking at me like, "Seriously, you think is funny? These are horrible!" Instantly from when the spoon hit his mouth, his chubby little face got all scrunched up and he would not open his mouth anymore! He was spitting and coughing to get them all out of his mouth. I had to get the video camera out so Phil could see it later. No smiles here!
As a side note...I found these fabulous bibs at Ikea yesterday. They are a nylon-like material so you can just wash them off in the sink afterwards, and they have full sleeves on them. So, Henry can rub his face anywhere on his arm and won't get his clothes dirty! Genius, I tell you! Now, if only I could find a pants suit too :) Then, his clothes would still be clean after eating. I know, I know, wishful thinking.
As I'm writing this, I remember asking a friend of mine, how do you handle how messy everything gets? She told me you'll worry about it for about the first 5-6 months and then you just have to let it go. Surprise, surprise, I know exactly what she's talking about, Henry is 6 months old! Oh well, right :) Somebody else told me this piece - the messier they are at the end of the day, the harder they played!
