Mommy's 30!

Thank you to my boys for a wonderful birthday today! The day started out with a Caribou coffee date with my little man and ended with this delicious cake from my big man! Looking forward to many more:)

Green thumb

Today, Henry and I decided to plant his wildflower seeds that he received from Jill, the librarian. He now has his own bright red pot that he's responsible for watering. I had a couple of empty pots lined up and he went right over to the red one! Notice his hand doesn't leave his snack container for many shots.

Of course, one must taste the packet of wildflower seeds first.

Fingernails had to be trimmed tonight after this dig in the dirt.

Check out the dirt on the face. He had a big chunk of it in his mouth before I could stop him. Whaddayado? Still can't quite set the snack cup down:)

Suppose I have to water these bad boys, huh? Snack cup in hand.

Aaaahh, I think I'll just sit here and admire my hard work, more snacks please!

Just playin' around

So, my two favorite boys got me a new fancy camera for Mother's Day and my "big" birthday that's coming up. All of my accessories finally came in the mail (from Amazon of course, only the best website ever) so I read the manual the last couple nights (between Hines' and Kirstie's dances) and busted it out this week to start practicing before my first of three camera classes which is tomorrow night. Who better to practice on than this handsome young man!?

Cries when I shut the bathroom door now, wants to get that toilet paper sooooo bad!

LOVES his soccer ball!

Yes, he got his first bloody lip yesterday, boo hoo :( This growing up business is a dangerous job. When one bruise on his face is starting to fade, he goes and gets another big one! Today's forehead bruise came when he successfully got off the couch the correct way, I cheered loudly of course, then he was all wrapped up in the applause that he turned around and fell face first into the coffee table. Bummer.

Rain, Rain, Go Away

Quite the rainy and stormy weekend we had around here. We had to camp out in the basement 2 times in the last 24 hours due to tornado warnings. Do I need to keep some toys in the basement at all times for our trips down there this summer? Let's hope not. Today, Henry's toy of choice was a beer-can-chicken holder. It made the most beautiful sound to his ears each time he would bang it on the metal chair I was sitting on.

Can you say windy? Here's how Mother Nature redecorated our furniture outside today. I have to thank the good Lord above that we we were safe in our basement and had no damage to our home. I had no idea just how bad the storm/tornado was that went through North Minneapolis until I watched the news later in the evening. Oh, do we feel bad for those people :(

Henry had his last day of swimming lessons this weekend. Katie took this superb action shot of Henry emerging from the water after a bob (aka being dunked:) Crazy as it may seem at the ripe old age of 11 months now, but Henry's teacher decided it would be best for him to repeat this class again in the future, therefore she didn't progress him to the next level:)

Henry's favorite discovery of the weekend.....the toilet paper holder! At first, he would just spin and spin and spin the roll, but he was spinning in the right direction where the toilet paper would stay on.....
.....well, that didn't last too long!
I wonder when I'll ever get to go to the bathroom by myself again?

And that was our weekend in a nutshell....plus a trip to Target of course, plus a baby shower for baby Pricco, plus a quick trip to the park between storms today, plus coffee with the Krump's, and plus church last night...sitting/walking around in the 'little angels' room!

Corner protectors??

So, now that Henry is doing more walking than crawling, we decided to slap a few corner protectors on our tv stand....just in case. Now does this picture look like they're doing what they're supposed to be doing? It did take him at least a week before he even noticed them, which surprised me, I thought he would have been on them the first night we put them on. So, yesterday he walked right up to one of them and ripped it of like it was no big deal, chewed on it for a little bit and threw it on the ground (and laughed about it too). Then he walked over to the other one and tried to rip that one off too, but this one won't come off! Now today he's been chewing on it (it is quite a nice little squishy, gummy substance, must feel good on the new teeth) non-stop! Unfortunately, it's encouraging his chomping on the entire tv stand:( He's walking back and forth and trying to chew on the wood (must remind him of his crib, which now has crib-rail-protectors on every possible rail that he can chew on)! I'm thinking I can return the unopened package I was going to use on the coffee table. Oh Henry, what will you come up with next?

Safety First!

What a super fun day we had at swimming lessons! He and his dad did a couple of bobs and there were no tears, I was shocked!
It was life jacket day.....lots of leisurely floating on his back today:)

Henry's taking after his mom and getting right into diving.....or maybe he'll start by jumping off that diving board with his trusty neon orange life jacket on....

.....right into his teacher's arms. Good job Henry!

Just Say No to Grass!

Today, I tried to get Henry to just "play" outside in the backyard with me. I brought out his basketball, football, and his new favorite, his soccer ball. Not a fan of the great outdoors! He HATED the grass.

At first he just sat like this, alternating which leg was up in the air, as he did not want either of them touching that prickly green stuff. I was able to go pick a few dandelions in the yard and Henry just sat there and watched me, it was like he was frozen!

Refused to crawl in the grass. This was his response after trying to put his left hand in the grass to crawl towards me. You'd think it bit him or something, poor guy!

Oh, and of course, the other thing on his mind was trying to get this darn sun hat OFF!
We ended up having to go to the park and go on the swings instead, that way he didn't have to touch that scary grass anymore:)

First steps!

Henry is a man on the move lately! He's stumbling all over the place, working on this walking business. He's been taking a couple steps at a time for about a week now, but today I counted 10 steps at once.

He stands up on his own, usually a few feet in front of us, walks to us, and then falls in our arms. I'm a bit afraid of the bumps and bruises that are going to come with this as the boy is fearless! He's so cute, he thinks the coffee table is going to catch him just like we do:) Doesn't quite work that way, bummer.

He LOVES all the applause that comes with it, that's for sure!

Fort!

Why is it that all boys love playing in their forts.
I knew there was a reason I saved this Radio-Flyer box!

Brrrrr!

Henry got to join us today for our annual March of Dimes walk. Bummer it had to be 35* and super windy! Much too cold for the little baby to make it the whole 4 miles. Hopefully next year:)

I don't know if Henry's crying here because T.C. freaked him out or because the wind was whipping in his face. When we were getting into our car (after we bailed out on the walk), we saw T.C. getting into his mini van. Don't worry, we shielded Henry's eyes so he didn't see him take his head off. Man, that could have really scarred him for future Twins games!
