day at the zoo

We hit up Como Zoo today, as it was an absolutely beautiful day outside! I do love how with every trip to the zoo, Henry is definitely more interested in the animals. We must have gone during zoo-nap-time, as it seemed like all the animals were sleeping!

Excuse me Mr. Seal, have we met before?

Why yes, I do believe we have! You were here to see me about 7 months ago. My, how you've grown!

I was a little nervous Henry was going to try to share his snacks with the real seal, thank goodness he didn't.

Two monkeys on the ground, one monkey up in the cage :)

Favorite part of the day, the fake animals of course! Loved "driving" the alligator!

baked beans beard

Henry has officially been indoctrinated into the brotherhood of Krump men (minus Phil I guess).....he can now grow some mean facial hair.....well, a baked bean beard for now!

splash pad

Henry and I hit up the splash pad today. Most days he enjoys that freezing cold water shooting up into the air. Today was one of those days.....he was a fan!

It's no easy task to try to fill up a bucket this way.....

.....but it sure is funny :)

Now this one's more my size!

What we've been up to.....

I can't believe it's been over a week since I've done a blog post, my apologies, this is so unlike me! The fact is, there really hasn't been too much craziness to report on around here. We've had a month of warm and sunny weather, therefore we've been outside playing.....A LOT! I'm already starting to fret about what we're going to do this winter when we can't play outside all day. I've been doing some hard internet searching and I'm brainstorming a laundry list of activities/places to go/things to do!

Summer, 2011, a day in the life of.....
Henry's been waking up (and sprinting back and forth in his crib) around 6:30-6:45am, after a 12 hour slumber. We start with breakfast......then a walk/run/bike ride.....then we play, play, play until nap time....

.....aaaaahhhh, it's nap time, anywhere between 9:00-11:00am.
Check out that sweaty little head!

Then we head outside (lately Henry's been into "mowing the lawn" or kicking the soccer ball around) and of course we bring our milk and crackers along for a snack!

Then it's time for lunch, let's see, today it was a grilled turkey & cheese, bananas, and grapes.

Off to Target we go for our errands (shocking I know),
then home for another nap, anywhere between 1:30-3:30pm.

Today our afternoon outing was to the park, we loaded up the Burley and biked over. We were loners at the park today, maybe because there was a storm-a-brewin' in our area, the bike ride home against the wind was a bit tough on me!

Doesn't this picture make you want to just squeeze that little diaper butt?

We think he looks like his Daddy in this picture.

Don't worry, Henry did a full inspection on the bike before we headed home. Safety first :)

Dinner time, bath time, then time to put the toys away for the night. Tonight it was 6:35pm, exhausted, out like a light! Sweet dreams, Henry. We love you :)

first boat ride

Henry's Opa took us all out on the boat today, and what a beautiful day it was:) Henry wasn't too sure about it at first, sitting completely still on my lap (a rarity in itself these days), life jacket up around his neck, not even turning his head to see things, just moving his eyes.....until his Opa let him drive the boat that is, then it was all good! Thanks so much, Opa!

Somebody took his job of steering the boat extremely serious as you can see, nothing but business here, folks! His sun hat sort of turned into a sailor's hat with the wind, very fitting.

Check it out Mom, no hands!

Oh, those handsome Krump boys. Once again, sure doesn't look like Henry was having the least bit of fun, but I swear he was:)

Best part of the day.....pushing the buttons on the viewfinder, couldn't get enough!

Crazy dinner

This learning-to-feed-yourself-with-utensils business can get awfully messy!

Yogurt anyone?

rain, rain, go away

What's a boy to do when it's pouring rain all day and he can't go outside to play? Well, he takes every single toy out of his toy-box and then proceeds to play inside the toy-box, while practicing how to get in and out many, many, many times! Super fun, I tell you :)

Mom, what's Finley's number?

In and out and in and out and in and out...

.....and in and out again!

At the end of a typical day, I hand him each toy separately and ask him, "Can you put this back please?" and he puts all his toys away. Well, today, he was sitting in his toy-box and I handed him each toy and he put them away (but didn't want to get out as you can see). He thought this was absolutely hilarious at first, but then got a little nervous when he couldn't really move :(
